Australia’s cargo terminal operators (CTOs) including Qantas, dnata and Menzies Aviation have issued new service charges, reflecting the heightened air security regime and tougher screening regulations.

Export cargo could cost more because of the new screening rules.

Brian Lovell, chief executive of the Australian Federation of International Forwarders (AFIF) declined to comment on the increased charges but suggested shippers should review their current arrangements or face higher charges and delays for export air cargo.

“The bigger companies have already made the investment in becoming a regulated export business but there are many more who might consider becoming regulated Known Consignors,” said Lovell.
