The latest news from the FTA in relation to the infrastructure charge increase.
Negotiations on infrastructure charges increase have continued since March, with FTA imploring DPWA to reconsider and provide a reprieve on import businesses with our projection that many may not survive the financial hardship of the current and emerging economic environment. This may in turn lead to excessive container congestion at terminals which is the last thing that we need during this COVID-19 crisis.
Who does this notice affect?
Importers, exporters, customs brokers, freight forwarders and transport operators.
Disappointingly the scheduled changes will proceed as listed below:
- West Swanson Terminal (VIC) (effective 1 May 2020)
- Fishermans Island Terminal (QLD) (effective 1 May 2020)
- Port Botany (NSW) (effective 8 May 2020)
We will continue to keep you up to date on all issues impacting our industry.
