NSW Ports has welcomed the announcement of the duplication of the Port Botany Freight Line between Port Botany and Mascot as part of the broader joint agreement between the Federal and NSW Governments on the multi-billion dollar Inland Rail project.
About 440,000 TEU travel by rail to/from Port Botany each year, and NSW Ports has a target of 3 million TEU in the long term. The duplication will facilitate more freight on rail, and will support existing and planned intermodal terminals to Sydney’s west.
